Liam Gallagher Gets Gas from Trooper, Then Leads 120 mph Chase

What began as a simple roadside assist on Interstate 75 turned into a high-speed pursuit just minutes later.

On the morning of July 23, 2026, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper stopped to help 19-year-old Liam Thomas Gallagher of Birmingham, Michigan. Gallagher’s 2008 Chrysler Aspen had run out of fuel near mile marker 128 in Bath Township, Allen County. The trooper provided him with a little more than four gallons of gas and sent him on his way.

From Help to Pursuit

Shortly after receiving the fuel, Gallagher headed south on I-75 at high speed. The same trooper observed the reckless driving and activated his lights to initiate a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, Gallagher accelerated.

The chase reached speeds of 115 to 120 mph as it continued south through northwest Ohio into northern Shelby County. Additional troopers joined the pursuit. Spike strips were eventually deployed near mile marker 102, puncturing the front left tire of Gallagher’s vehicle. He came to a stop in the median.

Arrest and Charges

Officers took Gallagher into custody without further incident. Police reported he showed no signs of impairment. He was charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer — commonly known as fleeing and eluding — and booked into the Allen County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Gallagher faces the consequences of turning a moment of assistance into a dangerous high-speed flight down a major interstate.

The case stands as a striking example of how quickly a routine stop can escalate when a driver chooses not to cooperate.
